My name is Nicole Patten, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Buford, Georgia. I truly believe to support those around you, you must first be found. Initially, I did not set out to become a therapist. I graduated from Valdosta State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. What life experiences ultimately taught me is that you and I needed something more than what I had in store for us. Long story short, I received a Master’s Degree in Social Work in May 2015, associate licensure in Social Work in August 2015, and full licensure in Clinical Social Work in April 2019, all while actively working in the field of social work taking on a multitude of roles and responsibilities since 2012.

Until now, my professional experience has been committed to working in rural Southwest Georgia serving children, youth, and families who were struggling to achieve and sustain mental wellness. The purpose I have found since being in this field has been unquestionably remarkable. In addition to mental health service provision through Southwest Georgia state and federal agencies, I am a certified Youth-in-Crisis trainer and have provided various trainings and presentations including School Based Mental Health Forums in collaboration with other state organizations as well as Crisis Intervention Trainings (CIT) for adults and youth for several state and local organizations. I have worked closely with school and community partners serving as a member on district school teams, mental health and wellness teams and task force, advisory boards, policy collaboratives and publications, and crisis teams to unite systems and improve recovery for youth and families in the State of Georgia. I have also provided ongoing clinical and administrative supervision to social work and professional counseling students, interns and young professionals.

Living in Albany, Georgia for 11 years with two big loves of my life, my husband and rescue dogs, I have had the privilege to break stigma around something so significant, the chance to build true and meaningful connections with the people around me, and the chance to be a witness to growth and positive change in communities by meeting people where they are, empowering them to develop new perspectives, and supporting them towards their own chosen path of recovery and resiliency.

With the relocation to the greater Athens area in November 2023 and my new home at Grace Counseling Services, I most look forward to adding value to your life, creating a safe, unbiased environment, assisting you with creating change at your own pace, and improving your overall quality of living. I will continue to directly serve children, adolescents, adults, and families utilizing a blend of trauma informed, evidence based, and neuroscience based strategies including, but not limited to, Polyvagal, Cognitive Behavioral, Rational Emotive, Dialectical Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment, Interpersonal, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused therapies to individuals age 6 to late adulthood. I will also continue cultivating two other loves in my life - traveling and The University of Georgia Football. GO DAWGS!
